Sensex down 352pts; Rel Infra slumps 9%

The Sensex slipped below the 9,000-mark and touched a low of 8,968. The index is now down 352 points at 9,033.

Reliance Infrastructure has slumped over 9% to Rs 469. HDFC has plunged 7.5% to Rs 1,442.

Sterlite, Tata Steel and HDFC Bank have tumbled around 7% each to Rs 211, Rs 161 and Rs 943, respectively.

Tata Power, ICICI Bank and DLF have dropped around 6.5% each to Rs 697, Rs 370 and Rs 226, respectively.

Hindalco has shed 6% at Rs 53. Reliance and Reliance Communications have slipped 5.5% each to Rs 1,085 and Rs 208, respectively.

Jaiprakash Assocaites has declined nearly 5% to Rs 70. Ranbaxy and Sataym are down 4.5% each at Rs 205 and Rs 250, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,255 stocks traded so far, 1,766 have declined, 428 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
