Sensex down 454pts; Tata Power tumbles 11%

The Sensex is now down 454 points at 12,072.

Tata Power has slumped 10.7% to Rs 794. Jaiprakash Associates and Sterlite have plunged over 10% each to Rs 104 and Rs 356, respectively.

DLF has tumbled nearly 9% to Rs 307. Tata Steel has shed 6.5% at Rs 360.

BHEL has slipped 6.6% to Rs 1,463. Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Communications and TCS have slipped over 6% each to Rs 695, Rs 313 and Rs 617, respectively.

Infosys has dropped 5% to Rs 1,322, and Satya has shed 4.5% at Rs 300.

Grasim, ACC, Larsen & Toubro and Wipro have declined around 4% each to Rs 1,685, Rs 600, Rs 1,112 and Rs 328, respectively.

Tata Motors has advanced nearly 1% to Rs 333.

The market breadth was fairly negative - out of 2,204 stocks traded so far, 1,875 have declined, 293 have advanced and 36 are unchanged.
