The Sensex is now down 643 points at 11,883.
Sterlite has slumped 13% to Rs 345. Tata Steel, Jaiprakash Associates and Reliance Communications have tumbled 10.5% each to Rs 351, Rs 104 and Rs 299, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Power plunged 10% each to Rs 667 and Rs 800, respectively.
DFL has crashed 9.6% to Rs 304. Grasim has dropped over 9% to Rs 1,598.
TCS and Infosys have slipped nearly 8% each to Rs 605 and Rs 1,284, respectively. BHEL has tumbled over 7% to Rs 1,454.
Wipro has declined 6% to Rs 321. ONGC and Satyam are dow 5.5% each at Rs 964 and Rs 296, respectively.
Out of 2,595 stocks traded so far, 2,301 have declined, 261 have advanced and 33 are unchanged.
