The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 136 points at 8,707. The index has extended losses and is now down 187 points at 8,656.
DLF has slumped 5% to Rs 147. ICICI Bank has plunged 4.6% to Rs 320.
HDFC and Jaiprakash Associates have tumbled 4% each to Rs 1,298 and Rs 64, respectively.
Reliance and Reliance Infrastructure have dropped 3.7% each to Rs 1,207 and Rs 473, respectively.
Tata Steel and Sterlite have shed 3.5% each at Rs 162 and Rs 240, respectively.
HDFC Bank has slipped over 3% to Rs 840. Infosys, Wipro and SBI are down around 2.5% each at Rs 1,148, Rs 210 and Rs 1,021, respectively.
