The Sensex is now down 195 points at 9,135.
Tata Steel has slumped 5.5% to Rs 197. Sterlite and Bharti Airtel have plunged 5% each to Rs 257 and Rs 615, respectively.
HDFC has shed 4.5% to Rs 1,478. Reliance Communications has tumbled over 4% to Rs 177.
Hindalco and Mahindra & Mahindra have dropped nearly 4% each to Rs 49 and Rs 298, respectively.
ICICI Bank, Jaiprakash Associates and ACC have slipped around 3.5% each to Rs 398, Rs 67 and Rs 485, respectively.
DLF, Maruti, SBI, HDFC Bank and Hindustan Unilever are down around 3% each.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,375 stocks traded so far, 1,295 have declined, 993 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
