Sensex down over 300pts; RIL, Tata Steel drop 5%

The Sensex opened 131 points lower at 10,405, and is now down 316 points at 10,220.

Sterlite has slumped over 8% to Rs 257. Hindalco has plunged nearly 7% to Rs 62. Jaiprakash Assocaites has shed 5.5% at Rs 91.

Tata Steel and Relinace have dropped 5% each to Rs 203 and Rs 1,237, respectively.

BHEL has slipped 4.5% to Rs 1,445. HDFC and Larsen & Toubro have declined around 4% each to Rs 1,698 and Rs 886, respectively.

Tata Motors, ICICI Bank and Bharti Airtel are down 3.7% each to Rs 163, Rs 454 and Rs 684, respectively.

Reliance Communications has rallied nearly 3% to Rs 242. Ranbaxy has moved up 1.5% to Rs 235.
