Sensex down over 450 points; Rupee at 62

Hero MotoCorp, Wipro and Tata Motors buck the larger market trend and is up 0.5-1%

Markets continue to languish as Rupee continues to trade around the levels of 62, despite a slew of measures announced by the central bank.

At 1100hrs, the Sensex was down 452 points or 2.4% at 18,909 and the Nifty lost 2.6% or 152 points to trade around the levels of 5,590. Also, India Volatility Index (VIX) increased 18.34% 22.13.

Selling was visible across the broader markets, with both the mid and smallcap indices losing 1-2%.

All the sectoral indices were in the red, down atleast 1%. Consumer Durables and Bankex indices were the worst affected, hiving off 8% and nearly 4% respectively.

Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp, Wipro and Tata Motors braved the market trend and were up 0.5-1%.

HDFC, BHEL, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Power, SBI and ICICI Bank down nearly 4-5% were the top losers among the Sensex-30.
