Sensex ends 57pts up

The BSE Sensex ended (provisional) at 16,274, up 57 points. The NSE Nifty ended (provisional) at 4,835, up 15 points.

The Sensex is now exhibiting volatile movement. The index is now at 16,230, up 16 points. The NSE Nifty is flat at 4,820.

Hindalco has surged nearly 6% to Rs 124. ICICI Bank has gained 2.5% to Rs 835.

Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel and SBI have added 1.5% each to Rs 1,627, Rs 423 and Rs 1,906, respectively.

Wipro has advanced 1.5% to Rs 551. Infosys and HDFC have gained over 1% each to Rs 2,263 and Rs 2,520, respectively.

Tata Motors has slipped over 3% to Rs 546. DLF, Sterlite and HIndustan Unilever have shed 2.5% each to Rs 398, Rs 747, Rs 255, respectively.

The market breadth is negative - out of 2,840 stocks, 1,768 have declined and 1,004 have advanced so far.
