Sensex ends above 12k, up 308 pts

The Sensex today opened up 76 points at 11,949. Throughout the day the index moved sideways. The index, in the last hour, surged to a high of 12,220, up 347 points.

The Sensex has finally ended (provisional) at 12,181, up 308 points.
