Sensex ends down 23pts

The Sensex managed to erase most of its losses and has ended (provisonal) at 17,208 - down 23 points.

The Nifty ended (provisional) at 5,111 - down seven points.

The Sensex has continued to languish in red and is now down 62 poinst at 17,169. The Nifty is down 15 points at 5,102.

Reliance Infrastructure and Bharti Airtel have tumbled 4% each to Rs 1,271 and Rs 326, respectively.

Sun Pharma has shed 3.5% to Rs 1,362. Hindustan Unilever have dropped 2.5% to Rs 286.

ITC, Reliance Communications, Infosys and TCS have declined 2% each. Mahindra & Mahindra, HDFC and Wipro are also down.

Meanwhile, SBI has gained 2.2% at Rs 2,320. Tata Power, Sterlite and NTPC have added 1.5% each. ICICI Bank has advanced over 1% at 931.

The market breadth is neutral. Out of 2,807 stocks traded 1,353 have advanced while 1,347 have declined.
