Sensex ends up 276pts

The BSE Sensex ended (provisional) at 15,674, up 276 points. The NSE Nifty ended (provisional) at 4,679, up 89 points.

The Sensex has bounced back to touch a high of 15,741, up 382 points from day's low, on positive global cues as European markets opened in the green. The index is now at 15,706, up 308 points. The NSE Nifty is now at 4,687, up 93 points.

The Auto index has surged nearly 3% to 6,083. Among other sectoral indices, metal and oil & gas indices are up 2.5% each.

Mahindra & Mahindra have jumped nearly 7% to Rs 870.

Hero Honda has rallied nearly 4% to Rs 1,605.

Larsen & Toubro and HDFC have surged 3.5% each to Rs 1,568 and Rs 2,462, respectively.

ONGC has gained over 3% to Rs 1,178.

Reliance has surged nearly 3% to Rs 1,987.

Sterlite, Maruti Suzuki and ITC have advanced 2.5% each to Rs 663, Rs 1,546 and Rs 232, respectively.

Grasim, Hindustan unilever, Hindalco, Tata Steel, ACC, Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Power have added 2-2.5% each.

Among the Nifty stocks, Unitech and Jindal Steel have  surged 4% and 3.5% to Rs 107 and Rs 3,277, respectively.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,797 stocks, 1,594 have advanced, while 1,114 have declined.
