Sensex ends up 68pts

The Sensex has ended (provisional) at 16,787 up 68 points. The Nifty has ended (provisional) up 20 points at 4,990.

The markets have rebounded into the positive zone. The Sensex is now at 16,761, up 41 points. 

The BSE IT index declined the most among the sectoral indices. The IT index shed 2.5%, followed by metal (1.85%), realty (1.23%), auto (1.08%).

The NSE NIfty is now at 4,982, up 12 points.

The market breadth has turned positive - out of 2,805 stocks, 1,448 have advanced, while 1,263 have declined.

HDFC Bank has advanced nearly 3% to Rs 1,612. HDFC has added 2.5% to Rs 2,719.

NTPC has gained over 2% to Rs 213. Bharti Airtel and Jaiprakash Associates have gained 1.5% each to Rs 421 and Rs 237, respectively.

Hindalco and Infosys have declined 3.5% each to Rs 129 and Rs 2,286, respectively.
