The Sensex has slipped further and is now at 16,242, down 110 points.
The NSE Nifty is at 4,817, down 29 points.
Maruti has slipped 4% to Rs 1,421 and HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have declined over 3% each to Rs 1,615 and Rs 808, respectively.
Tata Steel, Reliance Communications and ITC are down over 2.5% each.
Bharti Airtel has gained 4% at Rs 319. Tata Motors and Wipro have advanced around 3% each to Rs 566 and Rs 622, respectively.
Larsen & Toubro and Reliance Industries have added 2% each at Rs 1,591 and Rs 2,028, respectively.
The market bredth continues to be negative, out of 2,649 shares traded, 1,613 have declined and 972 have advanced so far on the BSE.
The BSE Realty and the metal indices have plunged 6% each to 4,046 and 14,356, respectively.
