Sensex extends gains; DLF zooms 10%

The Sensex has extended gains and is now up 254 points at 9,417. Earli in the day, the index opened with a positive gap of 153 points at 9,316, and then swung in a narrow range of 83-odd points for most of the morning session - a high of 9,363, and a low of 9,280.

DLF has zoomed over 10% to Rs 244. Sterlite has soared nearly 9% to Rs 272.

Grasim has surged over 8% to Rs 1,045. Reliance Communications has rallied nearly 7% to Rs 221.

Wipro has gained 6% at Rs 253, and Jaiprakash Associates has added 5.7% to Rs 73.

ONGC and Hindalco have moved up over 5% each to Rs 694 and Rs 53, respectively.

Reliance and Tata Steel have advanced 4.5% each to Rs 1,170 and Rs 204, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,142 stocks traded so far, 1,259 have advanced, 798 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
