The Sensex has extended gains and is now up 180 points at 9,481.
Tata Steel has soared 6% to Rs 197. Jaiprakash Associates has surged 5.5% to Rs 73.
HDFC and Reliance Infrastructure have rallied around 5% each to Rs 1,486 and Rs 567, respectively. Sterlite has gained 4.7% at Rs 277.
ONGC has moved up 3.7% to Rs 706, and ICICI Bank has added 3.5% to Rs 421.
Hindalco has advanced 3% to Rs 45. Larsen & Toubro and Sun Pharma are up 2.5% each at Rs 655 and Rs 1,085, respectively.
Reliance, Tata Motors and Maruti are up 2.3% each at Rs 1,374, Rs 141 and Rs 592, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra, however, is down 1% at Rs 271.
The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,390 stocks traded so far, 1,408 have advanced, 883 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
