Sensex extends gains, up 647pts; TCS soars 12%

The Sensex has extendd gains, and is now up 647 points at 11,175.

ICICI Bank has zoomed over 21% to Rs 442. TCS has soared 12% to Rs 586.

Hindalco, Sterlite, HDFC Bank and Reliance Infrastructure have surged 9% each to Rs 88, Rs 299, Rs 1,140 and Rs 561, respectively.

Reliance Communications has rallied 8.5% to Rs 258, and Satyam has gained 8% at Rs 270.

Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, DLF and Tata Steel have advanced around 7% each to Rs 499, Rs 738, Rs 301 and Rs 307, respectively.

SBI, Larsen & Toubro and NTPC are up around 6% each at Rs 1,436, Rs 942 and Rs 175, respectively.

Ranbaxy has slipped over 2% to Rs 286.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,437 stocks traded so far, 1,413 have advanced, 978 have declined and 46 are unchanged.
