The Sensex after opening 137 points higher at 9,208, has displayed firm trend so far. The index touched a high of 9,357, and is now up 253 points at 9,324.
Reliance and TCS have surged 5% each to Rs 1,135 and Rs 549, respectively. Reliance Infrastructure has gained 4.7% at Rs 499.
Infosys, Tata Steel and ICICI Bank have rallied 4.5% each to Rs 1,286, Rs 212 and Rs 445, respectively.
Sterlite and Jaiprakash Associates have moved up 4.3% each to Rs 274 and Rs 70, respectively.
Reliance Communications has advanced 3.5% to Rs 174. Hindalco, Mahindra & Mahindra and Bharti Airtel are up around 3% each at Rs 50, Rs 313 and Rs 625, respectively.
Sun Pharma has slipped 1.6% to Rs 1,116, and Tata Motors has declined 1.3% to Rs 153.
The market breadth is fairly positive - 1,148 have advanced, 623 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
