Sensex firm; breadth fairly +ve

The Sensex is displaying steady movement and is now up 155 points at 8,977.

Mahindra & Mahindra has zoomed almost 6% to Rs 313.

Hindalco has surged over 5% to Rs 41. Reliance Infrastructure and Tata Motors have gained 4.5% each at Rs 512 and Rs 138, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Tata Steel have advanced around 3% each to Rs 69 and Rs 165, respectively.

ICICI Bank, TCS and Bharti Airtel are up around 2.5% each at Rs 344, Rs 478 and Rs 653, respectively.

ITC, however, is down 1% at Rs 179.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,051 stocks traded so far, 1,293 have advanced, 679 declined and the rest are unchanged.
