The Sensex opened 38 points lower at 9794. The index touched a low of 9,791, and soon rebounded and touched a high of 9,872. The Sensex continues to remain in the same narrow range of 80-odd points, and is now down nine points at 9,823.
Ranbaxy has surged 3.5% to Rs 221. Satyam has gained 2.3% at Rs 231.
TCS has rallied 2% to Rs 479. Infosys and Wipro have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 1,120 and Rs 239, respectively.
Hindalco has gained 1.5% at Rs 57. ONGC, BHEL and Grasim have advanced 1.3% each to Rs 682, Rs 1,392 and Rs 1,188, respectively.
SBI, NTPC and Tata Power are up over 1% each at Rs 1,219, Rs 170 and Rs 743, respectively.
Sterlite has slumped over 6% to Rs 289. HDFC has plunged nearly 5% to Rs 1,534.
Mahindra & Mahindra and Reliance Infrastructure have dropped over 2% each to Rs 296 and Rs 639, respectively.
Tata Steel has slipped 1.5% to Rs 224. Bharti Airtel and Reliance Communications are down over 1% each at Rs 728 and Rs 236, respectively.
