The Sensex after a positive start has pared almost all its gains now. The index dipped into the negative zone to touch a low of 16,147 for a brief while and is now at 16,197, up 39 points.
The NSE Nifty is4,806, up nine points.
INDEX SHAKERS...
Bharti Airtel has dropped 4% to Rs 306 and Reliance Communication has slipped 3% to Rs 172. DLF, BHEL and HUL are down over 1.5% each at Rs 373, Rs 2,188 and Rs 269, respectively.
...AND THE MOVERS
Reliance has topped the gainers list, up 2% from the previous close. Tata Power, Tata Steel and SBI have increased 1% each.
The market breadth is positive, out of 2,444 shares traded, 1,537 have advanced and 829 have declined so far on the BSE.
The BSE realty and the TECk shares are down 1% each at 3,950 and 2,878, respectively.
VALUE & VOLUME TOPPERS
Reliance has topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs 66.89 crore. It is followed by HDIL (Rs 64.96 crore), SBI (Rs 47.58 crore), Suzlon (Rs 46.78 crore) and Tata Steel (Rs 43.48 core).
Cals Refineries has led the volumes chart with a trades of 7.8 million shares. It is followed by Suzlon (7.22 million), IFCI (6.8 million), Unitech (4.34 million) and Ispat Industries (3.24 million) shares on the BSE.
