The Sensex is now off day's high of 16,423 which it touched in early trades. The index is now moving firm and is at 16,376, up 185 points. The NSE Nifty is at 4,897, up 53 points.
Jaiprakash Associates is the top gainer on the Sensex, up 3% from its previous close. Tata Steel, Hindalco and Infosys are up 2% each at Rs 576, Rs 153 and Rs 2,580, respectively.
Sterlite, Maruti, ICICI Bank, Hero Honda, TCS, Tata Motors, DLF, Wipro and Tata Power were up 1% each.
There are still no losers on the BSE.
The market breadth is positive, out of 2,333 shares traded, 1,549 have advanced and 711 have declined so far on the BSE.
Among the sectoral indices, metal and the IT indices have advanced 2% each to 16,095 and 5,164, respectively.
