Sensex opens higher; Wipro moves up 3%

The Sensex opened at 10,977 - up 79 points, and has touched a high of 11,016. The index is now at 10,973 - up 75 points.

Wipro and ICICI Bank have advanced nearly 3.5% each to Rs 284 and Rs 412, respectively.

Tata Steel, Reliance Communications and DLF have rallied 3% each at Rs 252, Rs 225 and Rs 244, respectively.

Jaiprakash Associates and Tata Motors too have moved up nearly 3% each to Rs 119 and Rs 240, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructures and Hindalco have risen 2.5% each at Rs 692 and Rs 57, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro, Ranbaxy, ACC and HDFC are up 2% each at Rs 873, Rs 186, Rs 626 and Rs 1,780, respectively.

TCS, however, has slipped over 1% at Rs 546.
