Sensex pares gain, up 54pts

Sensex today opened up 112 points and rallied to a high of 12,144. The index has pared gains and is now up 54 points at 12,007.

Sterlite and Hindalco have surged 4% each to Rs 474 and RS 65. Tata Motors has gained 3% at Rs 272.

Reliance Communications, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Infrastructure have advanced 2% each to RS 240, Rs 772 and Rs 818, respectively.

Ranbaxy, HDFC, SBI, Tata Steel, Reliance, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever and ONGC have added 1-2% each.

On the other hand, ACC and Mahindra & Mahindra have slipped 2% each to Rs 626 and Rs 520, respectively.

Infosys, DLF, Grasim and NTPC have also declined 1-2% each.
