Sensex pares gains; breadth extremely +ve

The Sensex has pared some gains owing to profit-taking in select stocks. The index is now up 208 points at 15,376. The market breadth, however, is extremely positive.

The NSE Nifty is up 51 points at 4,581.

Jaiprakash Associates has soared 6.7% to Rs 196. Reliance Infrastructure has surged over 4% to Rs 1,075.

ICICI Bank has rallied 4% to Rs 757. SBI has gained 3.5% at Rs 1,576, and HDFC Bank has advanced over 3% to Rs 1,321.

Reliance Communications has moved up over 3.5% to Rs 454. Reliance has jumped over 3% to Rs 2,321.

DLF, ONGC and Maruti are up 2.8% each at Rs 564, Rs 1,094 and Rs 698, respectively.

TCS and Sterlite have slipped 1.3% each to Rs 832 and Rs 631, respectively.

The market breadth is extremely positive - out of 2,544 stocks traded so far, 1,810 have advanced, 658 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
