The Sensex today started with a negative gap at 11,237, down 92 points. The index reached a low of11,177 and then started recovering, reaching a high of 11,372.
The index is now at 11,368, up 39 points.
Banking, capital goods and consumer durables stocks are the major gainers this morning.
ICICI Bank has advanced 4% to Rs 450. Jaiprakash Associates is up over 3% at Rs 130. Sterlite has increased over 2.5% at Rs 409.
Larsen & Toubro and BHEL have added 2% each to Rs 905 and Rs 1,672, respectively.
DLF, Grasim Industries and Tata Steel are up over 1.5% each at Rs 246, Rs 1,832 and Rs 265, respectively.
On the other hand, Ranbaxy has dipped around 4% to Rs 169. Maruti Suzuki has declined over 3% to Rs 776. Tata Power and Hindustan Unilever are down 2% each at Rs 865 and Rs 233, respectively.
