Sensex recovers partially, down 170pts

The Sensex has recovered 281 points from the day's low of 14,888.

The Sensex is now at 15,160, down 175 points .The NSE Nifty is at 4,506, down 57 points.

The Sensex is languishing in the red zones and is now at 15,047, down 284 points.

The BSE Realty index has shed 5.5% to 3,859 and the Metal index has declined around 5% to 11,890.

DLF has shed over 7% to Rs 395. Sterlite, Hindalco and Tata Steel have dropped over 6% each to Rs 613, Rs 88 and Rs 440, respectively. Reliance Infrastructure has slipped 5.5% to Rs 1,142. Tata Motors has declined 4.5% to Rs 395.

Reliance communications, Tata Power, ITC, Jaiprakash Associates and ACC are down over 3% each. 

TCS has on the other hand added 2% to Rs 489.

The market breadth is highly negative, out of 2,569 shares traded, 1,737 have declined and 758 have advanced so far on the BSE.

The NSE Nifty on the other hand is at 4,462, down 101 points.

SAIL has decreased 7.5% to Rs 165 while the PNB has added 2% to Rs 738.
