Sensex recovers partially; Rel Infra, ITC move up

The Sensex after touching a low of 8,467, has recovered partially and is now down 228 points at 8,611. Earlier in the day, the index had opened with a negative gap of 304 points, partial recovery had seen the index touch a high of 8,629 in morning trades.

Mahindra & Mahindra has slumped 8.5% to Rs 249. Maruti and HDFC have tumbled around 5.5% each to Rs 458 and Rs 1,360, respectively.

Reliance Communications, Reliance, TCS, SBI and HDFC Bank have plunged around 4% each to Rs 188, Rs 1,064, Rs 542, Rs 1,015 and Rs 865, respectively.

Satyam, Tata Motors and ONGC have shed 3.5% each at Rs 227, Rs 128 and Rs 657, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and Sterlite have slipped 3.3% each to Rs 681 and Rs 231, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure has moved up 1.7% to Rs 475. ITC has advanced over 1% to Rs 167.

Out of 1,936 stocks traded so far, 1,362 have declined, 510 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
