Sensex recovers smartly; Tata Power gains 4%

The Sensex opened 156 points lower at 9,684, touched a high of 9,696, and then slipped to a low of 9,559. The index, however, has recovered smartly and is now down 14 points at 9,825.

DLF has slumped 4.7% to Rs 255. ICICI Bank has plunged over 4% to Rs 416.

ONGC has shed 3.5% at Rs 709. Maruti and Hindalco have dropped nearly 3% each to Rs 555 and Rs 58, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, ITC and Tata Motors have slipped 2.5% each to Rs 240, Rs 168 and Rs 152, respectively.

Sterlite and Reliance have declined 2% each to Rs 244 and Rs 1,185, respectively.

Tata Power has soared over 4% to Rs 784. TCS has advanced 1.5% to Rs 534, and HDFC is up over 1% at Rs 1,676.
