Sensex recovers, up 150pts

The Sensex is now at 17,141, up 160 points. The NSE Nifty is at 5,120, up 55 points.

The markets have come off from the day's high and is now trading flat. The Sensex is at 16,988, up five points.

The Nifty is at 5,071, up two points.

Among the sectoral indices, consumer durables have advanced 3.5% to 3,612.17 and the metal index is up 1% at 16,524.52.

Tata Steel and Bharti Airtel have gained 2% each to Rs 568 and Rs 322, respectively.

Reliance, Hindalco and DLF are up over 1% each at Rs 1,073, Rs 144 and Rs 373, respectively.

The other prominent gainers include NTPC, Sterlite, Wipro and Tata Motors, up over 0.5% each.

SBI and Reliance Communications have slipped 1% each to Rs 2299 and Rs 174, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive, out of 2,755 shares traded, 1,595 have advanced and 1,063, respectively.
