Sensex slips after +ve start; DLF, Rel Infra drop 4%

The Sensex opened 96 points higher at 10,073 following positive cues from the US markets. The index, however, could not hold gains and soon slipped into red. The index is now down 56 points at 9,921.

Satyam has slumped 28% to Rs 163 following the Maytas deal fiasco. Yesterday the company had announced its plans to diversify into infrastructure by approving $1.6 billion investment in Maytas Infra and Maytas Properties. However, today the company called off the deal following negative feedback from the investor community.

DLF and Reliance Infrastructure have plunged 4% each to Rs 266 and Rs 612, respectively.

Reliance Communications has tumbled 3% to Rs 227. Hindalco has shed 2.3% at Rs 55.

Reliance has slipped 1.8% to Rs 1,362. Mahindra & Mahindra, Wipro, ACC and Bharti Airtel have declined over 1% each to Rs 297, Rs 237, Rs 530 and Rs 737, respectively.

On the other hand, Grasim and ICICI Bank have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 1,249 and Rs 429, respectively.

ONGC has gained 1.5% at Rs 724. Infosys and HDFC Bank are up 1% each at Rs 1,136 and Rs 993, respectively.
