Sensex slips back into red, down 64pts

The Sensex has slipped back into red, and is now down 64 points at 8,879. The index had touched a high of 9,024 earlier in the day.

Hindalco has surged 4.7% to Rs 45. Sterlite has rallied 3.7% to Rs 304, and Reliance Communications has gained 3.4% at Rs 162.

ICICI Bank has moved up 2.5% to Rs 331. Maruti and Tata Steel have advanced around 2% each at Rs 714 and Rs 172, respectively.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Power are up around 1.5% each at Rs 380 and Rs 686, respectively.

TCS has slumped 2.7% to Rs 506. SBI has dropped over 2% to Rs 967.

HDFC and Jaiprakash Associates have slipped 1.7% each to Rs 1,369 and Rs 76, respectively.

Infosys, Hindustan Unilever and Wipro are down 1.5% each at Rs 1,268, Rs 232 and Rs 225, respectively.
