Sensex slips into red; L&T sheds 3%

The Sensex has pared all its gains and now slipped into the negative zone to 8.931 - down six points.

ITC has soared 4.4% to Rs 168. Sterlite and Reliance have surged 3.7% each to Rs 226 and Rs 1,183, respectively.

ACC and Mahindra & Mahindra have rallied 3.5% each to Rs 419 and Rs 311, respectively.

DLF has gained 3% at Rs 231, and Maruti has added 2.7% to Rs 527.

Ranbaxy and Grasim have advanced around 2% each to Rs 217 and Rs 995, respectively.

Satyam has plunged 4% to Rs 233. Tata Motors and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) have shed 2.7% each at Rs 135 and Rs 743, respectively.

Hindalco has dropped 2.5% to Rs 52. Reliance Communications has slipped 2% to Rs 205, and Bharti Airtel has declined 1.6% to Rs 613.

Out of 2,477 stocks traded so far, 1,482 have declined, 917 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
