The Sensex continues to exhibit steady movement around 9,217 - up 170 points.
NTPC has soared over 5% to Rs 176. Reliance and Reliance Communications have surged 4.7% each to Rs 1,198 and Rs 183, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure has gained 4% at Rs 524. Bharti Airtel has moved up 3.5% to Rs 626.
ONGC and Tata Power have advanced nearly 3% each to Rs 643 and Rs 757, respectively.
Sterlite has added 2.4% to Rs 260. BHEL, Mahindra & Mahindra, SBI and Hindalco are up around 2% each.
DLF has plunged nearly 4% to Rs 194. Wipro has slipped 1.8% to Rs 231, and TCS has declined 1.3% to Rs 503.
The market breadth is marginally positive - out of 2,291 stocks traded so far, 1,190 have advanced, 1,013 have declined and 88 are unchanged.
