Sensex steady; Jaiprakash soars 7%

The Sensex is now up 49 points at 9,373.

Jaiprakash Associates has soared 6.5% to Rs 70, and Sterlite has surged 5.5% to Rs 274.

ONGC has rallied over 3% to Rs 669. Tata Steel and Reliance Communications have moved up 2.7% each to Rs 210 and Rs 187, respectively.

Hindalco, Bharti Airtel and Reliance have gained around 2% each at Rs 51, Rs 646 and Rs 1,242, respectively.

ACC and BHEL have moved up 1.7% each to Rs 510 and Rs 1,422, respectively. Larsen & Toubro has added 1.5% to Rs 729.

Mahindra & Mahindra has plunged 3.5% to Rs 313. Wipro has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 231.

Maruti, Tata Power and ICICI Bank have slipped nearly 2% each to Rs 578, Rs 759 and Rs 417, respectively.

Tata Motors and Grasim have declined around 1.5% each to Rs 151 and Rs 1,262, respectively.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,368 stocks traded so far, 1,340 have advanced, 932 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
