Sensex steady; Sterlite, Rel Comm surge 5%

The Sensex after opening with a positive gap of 152 points at 10,110, has moved in a narrow range of 99-odd points - a high of 10,168, and a low of 10,069. The index is now up 175 points at 10,133.

Sterlite has soared 5.6% to Rs 290.

Tata Power, Reliance Communications and Jaiprakash Associates have surged over 5% each to Rs 811, Rs 263 and Rs 92, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure has rallied 4.5% to Rs 659. ICICI Bank and Hindalco have advanced over 4% each to Rs 491 and Rs 57, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and SBI have gained around 3% each at Rs 849 and Rs 1,369, respectively.

Satyam has plunged over 5% to Rs 169. Bharti Airtel has tumbled over 3% to Rs 683, and Hindustan Unilever has shed 2.3% at Rs 242.
