The Sensex has zoomed to a high of 16,209, up 192 points. The NSE Nifty is at 4,835, up 52 points.
The BSE Metal index has soared 3% to 13,353.
Sterlite has advanced over 5.5% to Rs 746. Reliance Infrastructure and Hindalco have soared 5% each to Rs 1,219 and Rs 113, respectively.
Reliance has moved up 4% at Rs 2,078.
Tata Steel, SBI, DLF, TCS, Larsen & Toubro and Hero Honda are up 2-3% each.
Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Power have declined over 1.5% each.
The market breadth is fairly positive, out of 2,810 shares traded, 1,585 have advanced and 1,132 have declined so far on the BSE.
