Sensex surges 273pts; breadth firm

The Sensex is now up 273 points at 9,941.

Tata Power and Tata Motors have soared 6.7% each to Rs 790 and Rs 171, respectively.

Larsen & Tourbo has surged over 6% to Rs 662. ITC and TCS have rallied 5.7% each to Rs 188 and Rs 556, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure and BHEL have gained 5% each at Rs 565 and Rs 1,559, respectively.

Hindalco and ONGC have moved up 4.5% each to Rs 52 and Rs 796, respectively. Maruti and Sterlite are up 4% each at Rs 764 and Rs 361, respectively.

Ranbaxy has shed 1.7% at Rs 160.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,587 stocks traded so far, 1,387 have advanced, 1,090 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
