Sensex up 110pts; Sterlite adds 6.5%

The Sensex is highly volatile now on account of constant bouts of buying and selling in the market..  In the last hour, the index went up nearly 150 points, but then came off its high's and is now at 12,064, up 111 points.

Metal stocks maintain to lead the rally.

Sterlite has surged 6.5% to Rs 484. Hindalco has moved up 4% to Rs 65 and HDFC has added 3.5% to Rs 1,810. Tata Motors and Tata Steel are high 3% each at Rs 273 and Rs 279, respectively. SBI has advanced 2 % to Rs 1,352.

Mahindra & Mahindra has dropped over 2% to Rs 519. Infosys, ACC and Grasim have slipped over 1.5% each to Rs 1,539, Rs 629 and Rs 1,770, respectively.

The market breadth is positive, out of 2,348 stocks traded, 1,431 have advanced and 819 have declined.
