The Sensex is now up 122 points at 11,019.
Earlier in the day, the index opened 71 points higher at 10,969. The Sensex then touched a low of 10,950, and thereafter it rose.
Wipro has soared 4% to Rs 286. ACC, DLF, Reliance Communication and ICICI Bank have rallied 3% each to Rs 633, Rs 244, Rs 224 and Rs 409, respectively.
HDFC and Tata Steel have advanced 2.5% each to Rs 1,790 and Rs 250, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates, Tata Motors, Reliance Infrastructure and Hindalco have also moved up.
However, Sun Pharma has shed 2% at Rs 1,193. Maruti Suzuki and Bharti Airtel have declined 1.5% each to Rs 778 and Rs 710, respectively.
