Sensex up 12pts; Ranbaxy, Hindustan Unilever surge

The Sensex is now trading in green, up 13 points at 14,884.

Sensex has surged 346 points from its low. The index is now trading at 14,936, up 64 points.

Ranbaxy and Hindustan Unilever have surged 4% each to Rs 277 and Rs 249. Reliance Communications added 3% to Rs 344.

Sun Pharma has gained 2.5% at Rs 1,290. Jaiprakash Associates, DLF, Tata Motors, Reliance Infrastructure, ITC, Larsen & Toubro, Bharti AIrtel, HDFC, NTPC and TCS are the other gainers in the market today.

Meanwhile, Sterlite has shed 5% to Rs 669. Tata Steel and Hindalco have declined 3% each to Rs 473 and Rs 91, respectively.

Infosys has dropped 2% to Rs 1,614. Tata Power is also down 2.2% at Rs 1,030.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,754 stocks traded 1,946 have advanced while 752 have declined.
