Sensex up 20pts; ACC, SBI, TCS advance

The Sensex is now up 20 points at 11,155.

The index today opened up 15 points at 11,149. Thereafter, the index rallied to a high of 11,217. The Sensex however could not hold gains and slipped into the red. It touched a low of 11,070, down 65 points from the prevoius close.

Jaiprakash Associates has surged 5% to Rs 124. Bharti Airtel and Mahindra & Mahindra have gained 4% each at Rs 736 and Rs 460, respectively.

Tata Power has advanced 3% to Rs 881. ACC, Reliance Communications, Grasim, SBI, TCS, DLF, Reliance Infrastructure and HDFC have added 1-2% each.

On the other hand, Tata Motors has shed over 3% at Rs 238. Maruti Suzuki and Wipro have declined 3% each to Rs 776 and Rs 304, respectively.

Infosys, ONGC, Ranbaxy, Hindalco and Hindustan Unilever have dropped 1-2% each.

The market breadth is fairly positive. Out of 2,271 stocks traded, 1,384 have advanced and 810 have declined.
