Sensex up 216pts; TCS soars 6%

The Sensex is now up 216 points at 9,884.

TCS and Larsen & Tourbo have soared 5.5% each to Rs 555 and Rs 658, respectively.

BHEL and Tata Motors have surged nearly 5% each to Rs 1,555 and Rs 167, respectively.

Hindalco has gained 4% at Rs 52. ITC, Jaiprakash Associates and Bharti Airtel have rallied around 3.5% each to Rs 184, Rs 87 and Rs 610, respectively.

Reliance Infrastructure, SBI, Maruti and Tata Steel have advanced around 3% each to Rs 555, Rs 1,084, Rs 756 and Rs 201, respectively.

Tata Power and ONGC are up nearly 3% each to Rs 761 and Rs 785, respectively.

Ranbaxy has shed 1.7% at Rs 160, and DLF has slipped 1.3% to Rs 174.

The market breadth is positive - out of 2,546 stocks traded so far, 1,400 have advanced, 1,040 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
