The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 290 points at 9,298, but has since pared some of its gains. The index is now up 219 points at 9,227.
Jaiprakash Associates and Mahindra & Mahindra have soared around 17% each to Rs 63 and Rs 290, respectively.
Sterlite, Hindalco and DLF have zoomed around 14% each to Rs 247, Rs 46 and Rs 226, respectively.
Reliance Infrastructure has rallied 13.5% to Rs 450. Tata Motors and Wipro have gained 13% each at Rs 158 and Rs 248, respectively.
Tata Steel has moved up 11.7% to Rs 188.
