Sensex up 234pts; Satyam, Infy slip in red

The Sensex is now up 234 points at 16,717.

The NSE Nifty is up 75 points at 5,033.

Jaiprakash Associates has soared 5% to Rs 228. Tata Steel has surged 4.7% to Rs 749, and Bharti Airtel has rallied 3.5% to Rs 853.

Grasim, Ranbaxy, Hindalco and HDFC Bank have advanced around 3% each to Rs 2,649, Rs 495, Rs 192 and Rs 1,437, respectively.

Maruti and Larsen & Toubro have gained around 2% each at Rs 774 and Rs 2,836, respectively.

Satyam and Infosys have slipped into negative zone at Rs 1,660 and Rs 467, respectively.
