The Sensex after a significant positive start at 9,277 - up 312 points following the double bonanza of RBI cutting rates and the government announcing a stimulus package - pared gains and touched a low of 9,208.
The Sensex has recovered from the day's low and is now up 350 points at 9,315.
DLF and Reliance Infrastructure have soared over 6.5% each to Rs 217 and Rs 567, respectively.
HDFC and Reliance Communications have surged 6.3% each to Rs 1,528 and Rs 210, respectively.
Tata Power, Tata Steel and HDFC Bank have rallied around 6% each to Rs 710, Rs 194 and Rs 940, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates and Bharti Airtel have moved up 5.3% each to Rs 70 and Rs 700, respectively.
Grasim has gained 5% at Rs 987, and ICICI Bank has added 4.8% to Rs 376.
Maruti is the sole loser among the index stocks.
The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 2,258 stocks traded so far, 1,421 have advanced, 766 have declined and 71 are unchanged.
