Sensex up 60pts in early trades

The Sensex has opened 37 points at 16,254 owing to positive cues from the global markets. The index is now at 16,277, up 60 points.

The NSE Nifty is at 4,837, up 18 points.

Mahindra & Mahindra and Hindalco have advanced 2% each to Rs 840 and Rs 119, respectively.

HDFC, DLF and ICICI Bank are up 1% each.

Sterlite on the other hand has slipped over 3% to Rs 741.
