The Sensex opened with a positive gap of 317 points at 9,362, and then rallied to a high of 9,710. The index is now up 655 points at 9,700.
HDFC has zoomed over 12% to Rs 1,684. Tata Steel has soared 11.5% to Rs 209, and Wipro has surged 10.8% to Rs 284.
ITC and ICICI Bank have rallied 9.5% each to Rs 169 and Rs 378, respectively.
Tata Power has moved up nearly 9% to Rs 671. Reliance, HDFC Bank, Reliance Communications and Sterlite have gained around 8% each at Rs 1,304, Rs 1,022, Rs 210 and Rs 266, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra, TCS and Tata Motors are up over 7.5% each to Rs 326, Rs 584 and Rs 169, respectively.
All index stocks are in positive territory with minimum gains of 4% each.
