Sensex up over 200pts; breadth fairly +ve

The Sensex crossed the 9,000-mark to touch a high of 9,003, and is now up 212 points at 8,959.

Jaiprakash Associates has soared 8% to Rs 67. Tata Motors has surged 7.5% to Rs 143.

BHEL, ICICI Bank and Reliance have rallied around 5% each to Rs 1,335, Rs 352 and Rs 1,122, respectively.

Larsen & Toubro and SBI have moved up nearly 4% each to Rs 717 and Rs 1,140, respectively.

HDFC and Reliance Infrastructure have gained 3.3% each at Rs 1,462 and Rs 525, respectively.

Tata Steel and DLF have advanced 3% each to Rs 170 and Rs 198, respectively. Tata Power has added 2.7% to Rs 665.

ACC and Sterlite are up over 2% each at Rs 411 and Rs 239, respectively.

Hindalco has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 50.

The market breadth is fairly positive - out of 1,991 stocks traded so far, 1,234 have advanced, 694 have declined and the rest are unchanged.
