Silver futures move up 0.5% on global cues

Prices rose as participants created fresh positions

Silver prices rose by Rs 230 to Rs 44,386 per kg in futures trading today as participants created fresh positions buoyed by a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the September contract spurted by Rs 230, or 0.52% to Rs 44,386 per kg in 57 lots.

The July contract traded higher by Rs 209, or 0.48% to Rs 43,713 per kg in 1,450 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators buoyed by a firm global trend, influenced precious metal prices at futures trade.

In Singapore, silver climbed 1.1% to $22.51.
