Silver futures prices rose by 0.68 per cent on the Multi Commodity exchange (MCX) today as traders indulged in enlarging their positions to meet the coming marriage season demand influenced by firming global trend.
Silver for September contract shot up by 0.68 per cent to Rs 23,985 per kg with an open interest of 3,714 lots.
Similarly, silver for delivery in December contract gained 0.33 per cent to Rs 24,325 per kg, clocking an open interest of 10,968 lots.
Market experts said traders were enlarging their positions to meet the coming marriage season demand amid firming global trend which led to rise in silver prices at futures trading here.
Meanwhile, silver rose by 0.2 per cent at $14.95 an ounce in Singapore.
